Microsoft Reveals Windows 8.1 Details At MWC

Microsoft today revealed some interesting things about windows 8.1 its first major update at Mobile World Congress(MWC), Barcelona.

Joe Belfiore (manager for Windows Phone Program Management at Microsoft) who looks after the company’s phones, tablets, and PCs revealed the update will be available this spring.

Windows 8.1 will mainly target mouse and keyboard users which it failed to do in previous version.Windows 8.1 will Focus On Non-Touch.But don’t call this a recall of touch: “None of the work we are doing has a negative effect on the touch experience at all,” Belfiore added. “We love touch.”

Microsoft says there will be "easy" launching and switching of apps via the Windows 8.1 taskbar, alongside new mouse UI for right-click and closing apps."Some of those touch affordances weren’t really tuned as well as we could do for those mouse and keyboard users," says Belfiore.

Microsoft says PC makers will be able to use just 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage in future Windows 8.1 devices which would lower price also the company is planning to lower the cost of windows 8.1 licenses.So  the company is planning to set up eye-popping wide range OEM plans.

Belfiore noted that windows 8.1 is a significant update with its touch UI, new folder architecture discoverable search and power, and start….

Microsoft stated that it had seen 200 million Windows 8 licenses sold.

Windows 8.1 Mobiles:

Microsoft continue to reveal more interesting things about the upcoming Windows Phone 8.1.As the OS being able to support the Qualcomm Snapdragon 200, 400 and 400 LTE devices extends the platforms ability to a new range of devices more notably it will let Windows Phone run on existing Android hardware.It will have soft buttons instead of hard buttons and able to store apps on SD cards.

Microsoft signed up with Foxconn, LG and Qualcomm, as well as Lenovo, ZTE, and HTC and other hardware partners.Belfiore doesn’t answered about dual-boot Android and Windows on the same phone."I think you will see a quite significant change in the performance and number of Windows Phones,"He said.So we can expect some huge changes in windows Phone.
